Batifa/Batufa
Batifa district, is a district under the independent administration of Zakho in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The district is located approximately 30 kilometers from the center of Zakho. It was established as a subdistrict in 1927, and on February 10, 2021, the Duhok Provincial Council voted to officially elevate it to a district.
The district has a population of about 28,000 people and covers an area of 213,162 dunams of agricultural and natural land. Batifa is known for its agricultural importance, relying on the fertility of its lands and the abundance of water provided by the passage of the Khabur River through the area.
In addition to agriculture, Batifa is a popular tourist destination due to its unique geographical location and natural beauty. Among its prominent tourist sites is Surya Waterfall, which is one of the most significant natural landmarks in the region. The district also boasts the village of Kshan, a notable tourist spot. Shilin and Shilan are other areas in Batifa that attract visitors with their stunning natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere.
Batifa is home to several tourist parks, including Zambil Froush Park in the northern part of the district and Sayed Ghazal Park, which adds another layer of tourism appeal to the region. Additionally, Kofki Resort is one of the most popular summer destinations in Batifa, where visitors enjoy refreshing weather and picturesque mountain views.
